NaBloPoMo Day Nine: Deep Dives And Reactions: The Show (The Encore Edition) by Niall Horan.
Alright, welcome back! Today we'll be talking about Niall Horan's Encore Edition to his third album, The Show! Earlier this year, I saw him live and he was positively wonderful and I'm still kinda shook up from it!
Now I listened to the original album a year or so ago, around the time it came out so I'll be skipping those tracks. I believe the total was 100, but I'll have to refer back to my end of year album wrap up to be sure!
(I stand corrected, it actually totaled up 110 and came in eighth on the listing).
My favorite song from the original cut was You Could Start A Cult and my gosh, I will probably never be over hearing it live! (Other things I will never get over is yelling "how obsessively adore you" and "you might save my life" to him, which I do and he did).
Alright, let's get to the part y'all came for!
You Could Start A Cult (Featuring Lizzy McAlpine).
So I was excited for this, to say the least! As I said, You Could Start A Cult is my favorite track and I'm slowly becoming a Lizzy McAlpine fan and I really like the idea of them together, specifically on this song! When she came in I had to turn it up, her voice is HEAVEN (pun intended). It's beautiful! 10/10.
Heaven (Live From Electric Picnic):
Oh man, this is gorgeous! As someone who experienced Heaven live and in person, this is a great likeness and sounds very nostalgic for the best night of my life! And gosh, the crowd is loud! Again, reminds me of my show! 10/10.
If You Leave Me/Everybody Wants To Rule The World (Live From Electric Picnic):
Okay, so I have thought this song sounded like both Everybody Wants To Rule The World and Stockholm Syndrome since the first time I heard the clip he first posted! At my show, he played this and then went directly into Stockholm Syndrome and you can imagine how I screamed and completely lost any semblance of sanity! Stockholm Syndrome is one of my absolute favorite One Direction songs and I was hoping to get it and guess what? I did! The one song I wanted that I didn't get was Flicker, which I probably couldn't have made it through (I had enough trouble with Still, Mirrors and freaking Fire Away)! 10/10.
Meltdown (Live From VEVO Extended Play):
Okay, so I have heard this one before, because it first came out a year or so ago! It is gorgeous and I love it! The studio version is a serious bop and this one feels like a favorite sweater! Never imagined it sounding like this when it came out and I probably may like this version better than the album version! 10/10.
Save My Life (Live From Electric Picnic):
This song is such a bop and so underrated and this version is great! Like I said, I got to hear this live and it might've changed my life completely! The guitar part is ear candy and the chorus is way too catchy for it's own good! One thing I've noticed is maybe the aesthetic demands it, but there are so many like upper harmony vocals on this album, such as the "if you ever LEAVE ME" part in If You Leave Me and then this one has the same sort of thing! I don't know, I just notice this stuff! 10/10.
On A Night Like Tonight (Live From VEVO Extended Play):
Okay, so since I'm too broke to afford YouTube Music Premium, I was using Discord's Jockie Music bot to play the album and I put the link in and it for some reason pulled The Show (the song) from Spotify instead of the song I wanted. I'll have to go to YouTube and just play it, one minute... I have already heard it but it's been long enough that I need to listen to it again to know my thoughts! It's positively beautiful, and it's maybe the third time I've heard it since my show. (The last time being in a freaking Bealls dressing room, don't ask)... Anyway, it's incredible! 10/10.
Science Live From Spotify Studios):
This was simply beautiful, so delicate and gentle. And after "so delicate and gentle", I'm ashamed to admit that the cheering at the end near gave me a heart attack... 10/10.
Something In The Orange (Live From Spotify Studios) (Zach Bryan Cover):
This was not something that was on my bingo card, I must say! But it's definitely nice! When Niall decides to cover a song, it's always killer! (And if him or his people ever read this, we need a full Edge Of Seventeen cover, PLEASE)! 8/10.
