NaBloPoMo Day Six: Deep Dives And Reactions: Some Of A Tribute To The Judds.
Hello. So as a die hard, lifelong Judds fan, this album was anticipated. I won't be listening to all of it because several of the featured artists I either don't know or can't stand (*cough cough* no offense, Jellyroll).
Girls Night Out by Reba McEntire, Carly Pearce, Jennifer Nettles and Gabby Barrett.
Well, a note first; I'd like to spend about five minutes in the presence of any of these incredible ladies. They've all, in some way, left a remarkable mark on my life and the way I sing and the way I write. This was incredible and I can only imagine they had as much fun recording it as I do yelling it every time it comes on my radio. 10/10.
Mama He's Crazy by Lainey Wilson and Dolly Parton.
I can't even imagine getting to sing with Dolly, I mean that's insane. It's the same thing as I was in awe of Kacey Musgraves years ago when she got to sing with Miss Loretta Lynn. I mean how does one not suffocate in close quarters of all that talent and grace? 10/10.
Why Not Me by Megan Moroney:
Had I been chosen to choose who sang each song, this would've been my pick for Megan! It's perfect and as soon as I read her name I hear her voice in my mind and said "that is freaking perfect!" And guess what, it is! It's beautiful! 10/10.
Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout The Good Old Days) by Cody Johnson featuring Sonya Issacs):
This is another one that simply made sense in my head! I was kinda late to the CoJo party, taking Til Ya Can't coming out for me to have ever heard of him (mind you, I wasn't like a walking encyclopedia of Indie Country before like the last couple years but still). Sonya's harmonies are positively beautiful too! I love her and The Issacs to absolute pieces. This song has always been one of my favorites and it speaks volumes, especially now with all the crazy in this old world. 10/10.
Rockin' With The Rhythm Of The Rain by Ashley McBryde and Shelly Fairchild:
This was the song I was probably most excited for! I am an OG Ashley McBryde fan, since 2016. (Okay, maybe not OG OG, but OG as far as major label Ashley goes)! I didn't know much about Shelly before this, but she sounds lovely. I've heard Ashley sing this with Wynonna a couple times so it's nice she did it up! 10/10.
Young Love (Strong Love) by Ella Langley and Jamey Johnson:
This was not a duo I was expecting to hear, but it's gorgeous! I'll tell ya! I've been aware of Ella since Could've Been Her came up on a playlist I was listening to one day and I was captivated! I've liked Jamey Johnson for years, he's one of the last true Outlaws. I like how they did this in a conversational style! This may be my favorite along with Why Not Me. 10/10.
Have Mercy by LeAnn Rimes:
As bad as I hate to say it, I don't love this one. Something about the mastering sounds distorted or something. I don't know, like they were peaking the mic the whole song... Nothing about LeAnn, just probably a technical error, but you'd think they'd have tested it before releasing it! At first I thought it was my headset acting crazy but I adjusted them and it still sounded weird. Okay, apparently it's just the lyric video! They other version sounds alright! That's very weird and I'm glad one sounds good! 10/10.
Love Is Alive by Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton:
I like that he's only singing during the chorus and things, and letting her take lead on here. I'm not really a Blake Shelton fan... To put it frankly, he should've retired after Ol' Red came out way back then. The instrumental is surprisingly Country, I was kinda worried they'd make it sound more Gwen-ish, which wouldn't be bad, because I love a lot of Gwen/No Doubt, but it would've been very different! 10/10.
Had A Dream (For The Heart) by Wendy Moten and O.N.E The Duo:
I've been in the know of Wendy for maybe a year or so first seeing her on the Opry. She has one of the most beautiful, most soulful voices I've heard in the last two decades. I haven't listened to much out of O.N.E The Duo yet, but I'm gonna have to. This was positively beautiful! 10/10.
I Know Where I'm Going by Barnett, Lynne & West:
We've arrived to what might be my favorite Judds tune! It's the one that I randomly start singing a lot of the time! I love the harmonica on here, very nice touch! 10/10.
Cry Myself To Sleep by Wynonna Judd and Trisha Yearwood:
To close out the album is this rocker from the Queen herself! It's positively lovely! 10/10.
Total: 90. Not the highest album of the year, but not bad. This end-of-year chart is gonna be fun!
Bye! 😎
