NaBloPoMo Day Eight: Deep Dives And Reactions: We Need Christmas (Extended Edition) by Maddie & Tae.
Well, I've already heard most of this ('cause as you know, the album's two or three years old). So here we go...
This Christmas:
Alright, this is nice, probably my favorite version of this song. One issue with this song is it's a Christmas love song, like the terrible Mariah Carrey song (I will say, I like the MCR version of that song) which if Christmas music isn't a little much in itself, Christmas lovey dovey music is definitely a little much! All and all, it's not bad. 9/10.
It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas:
This is one of my favorite Christmas songs, and this version is very nice! Now just to wait until it isn't eighty degrees outside and actually feels like Christmas! 10/10.
Holly Jolly Christmas:
I like this song too, and this version is super cute! The only version I probably like better is Point Of Grace's from years ago! 10/10.
O Come All Ye Faithful:
This is stunning, the a Capella part is gorgeous and I love how even when the instruments hit, they hold back and let the harmonies shine! Probably my favorite so far! Loved the spoken Scripture at the end, which was beautiful and one of my favorite verses! 10/10.
The Christmas Song:
Alright, the first new track! I've always kinda liked this song and then kinda thought it sounded like a meme (and then the always entertaining Dan Povenmire made a meme of it, which you can find here). This is a great version of it, very pretty! And the notes at the end are incredible! 10/10.
Merry Married Christmas:
Contrary to my usual stance on "Christmas love songs", I remember enjoying this one (I don't remember much about it, because I've quite literally not listened to it since it came out originally) and was excited to hear it again! It's a very cute little song, there again, a little much, but less obnoxious than All I Want For Christmas Is You. 10/10.
Christmas (Baby Please Come Home):
White Christmas:
We Need Christmas:
This song is so beautiful, and it came out originally in kinda a rough time for everyone. I can never get through it without getting teary-eyed, which means I don't listen to it very often. It's honestly probably my favorite Christmas song that isn't a classic hymn that's a hundred years old! In a world like this, we truly do need Christmas and even more than that, we need the first six letters more than ever before. 10/10.
