Blogmas 2023: Day Sixteen: Movie Madness: Wonka.
Blogmas Day Sixteen:
Today I went to the movie theater and saw the film I've been waiting for since late June: Wonka.
WARNING: THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD!
Now that that's over with, let's get down to business.
I've obviously seen both Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, and like both (though I probably prefer the 2005 Tim Burton/Johnny Depp effort; Charlie And The Chocolate Factory).
It was definitely fun to see Timotheé Chalamet in such a crazy role. Last thing I saw him in was 2019's Little Women, where he played Laurie Lawrence, who has always been my third favorite Little Women character ever since I read the book in sixth grade.
I liked the dynamic of him and Noodle's relationship, in which I mean it was not romantic but they had a great bond. My own little Headcanon is that her and her mother took him in as a brother and son figure.
I was actually really surprised at the fact that it was a musical, because none of the trailers I ever seen mentioned that little morcel of information. The songs were all pretty good, not "The Greatest Showman" good, but definitely "Lyle, Lyle Crocodile" good.
And Hugh Grant as the Oompa-Loompa was something I never knew I needed to see, but now, I won't ever be able to live without it.
All and all, it was a delightful picture that I won't be opposed to seeing again.
Bye! 😎
